Walthamstow Stadium affectionately known as the Stow closed its doors after the last race that graced the track in August 2008. The famous Greyhound racing stadium was situated in north east London and opened its doors in 1933. Famous all over the country not just with race goers, it also gained notoriety after being featured in the Guy Ritchie film 'Snatch' about London's gangland. It was visible at night by the large neon sign that adorned its exterior visible to drivers from the North Circular Road travelling east & west. Charlie Chan's, a popular nightclub also had its home at the stadium. The ground is still owned to this day by the Chandler family, which is missed by tens of thousands of people who see its closure as another famous side of London's history lost forever. No one knows what the future holds for the Stow but whatever it is, the atmosphere and buzz of the area has been lost forever.
