Savage cuts are proposed that will affect BBC Local Radio. Here in London the changes may see those changes have a dramatic effect on BBC London 94.9FM that will ultimately see the after noon, evening and overnight schedules slashed that may even see them disappear completely!   That in it's self is complete madness.   London needs a 24/7 radio station that is informative and entertaining which will keep Londoners and those from a wider audience informed and entertained. That's what Radio London 94.9FM does best. Support the case to keep local radio, write to your MP, local newspaper and tell your friends and family, we cannot and must not see BBC Local radio disappear.  George Webley known affectionately as Big George  broadcast his overnight show on BBC Radio London 94.9FM, Monday to Saturday Mornings from 02.00 am through to 06.00 am.  His show also had the earlier time slot from 10.00pm to 02.00am.   As well as a broadcaster he was an accomplished musician and composer.  His show was a mixture of current affairs, great debate, and conversation and interlaced with a little music, which appealed to hundreds of thousands of listeners from the UK as well as across the globe.  He had a great knowledge and love of music, news and Soho!  He died suddenly on 07.05.11 at the age of 53. He is missed by everyone, the legend of Big George lives on.
